Overview 
The primary role of the Marketing Director (SSA) is to drive business growth by positioning JCDecaux as a leading media and services company in Africa 

Key Area Of Responsibilities 
  • Grow JCDecaux share of Advertising spend in every market that we operate in
  • Work hand in hand with the Sales Heads to support the JCDecaux brand and relevant product yields
  • Support the Development and Patrimony departments to grow and enhance our inventory for relevant content and context 
  • Provide proactive input to Sales teams across SSA for the support of top line revenue generation
  • Take a leadership role in promoting the efficacy of OOH in aiding delivery of Audience Measurement across Africa  
  • Be an active member of the OMC and Geopoll research initiatives working closely with the various Sub Saharan Media Managers
  • Be the JCDecaux Brand Ambassador- Deliver at international standards at every touchpoint – Internal and External 
  • Lead role for CRM and Client Events 
  • Develop ongoing thought leadership pieces to be published in various industry channels (Digital & Print) ~ managed/disseminated through a quarterly newsletter (for example) 
  • Proactively manage content and design for the media calendar (including Media Loop, various industry publications)
  • Develop and nurture key CSI partners in line with the Sustainable Development Policy ~ and drive Client participation and PR 
  • Foster relationships with Key clients and agencies

Duties 
  • Manage and direct the Marketing team and subordinates
  • Be an active ambassador for the JCDecaux brand -  Responsible for all printed and digital collateral used within the business throughout Africa (internal and external use)
  • Research and input required on international trends that will deliver strategic input required for Sales and Development needs
  • Ensure the highest performance of lateral, creative, innovation and strategic thinking to the outdoor medium is applied
  • Provide support to the Sales & Marketing Director on all strategic business requirements
  • Manage PR and other promotional and trade advertising channels in a professional manner
  • Develop and promote case studies using global and proprietary research to grow OOH Share of Spend 
  • (Work with the Media and Business Analyst Heads) 
  • Proactivity required on systems and software that will support the business (ie SMARTBRICs, Créaction, Automated Buying tools, Quantum, Fusion, etc.) 
  • Be familiar with media research tools
  • Be the BEE (global intranet) ambassador for JCDecaux Africa
  • Foster a team spirit of high performance
  • Participate in industry related associations (AMASA, OMC, PAMRO) 
  • Develop and update presentation material to support sales from brief through to presentation stage;

Manage and develop marketing tools required to support sales

Relationship Management
  • Develop relationships internally and externally with the key stakeholders.
  • Assisting the Sales Heads to identify opportunities for maximising Adspend.
  • To attend regular team meetings and action issues raised by acting upon minutes taken.
  • To conduct monthly performance reviews with all key suppliers
  • Utilise Bee (global intranet) to share best practice and lessons learnt
  • Respond quickly to any enquiry from other subsidiaries
  • Deliver quarterly KPI’s for direct reports

Finance
  • Apply responsible administration to Media Contract approval process
  • Manage supplier costs and constant evaluation of cost saving initiatives 
  • Attention to detail, appreciate cost control and budgets.

Skills and  Qualifications 
Essential 
  • Relevant tertiary diploma in Media Studies  
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a marketing leadership role, ideally within the media industry
  • Sound knowledge on international Media Research and Creative Tools
  • Process agreeable - Understand the value of process & how it benefits all.
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Office – Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Person Specification 
•    Professional and strong communicator - both written and spoken; good presentation skills
•    A flexible approach as travel will be required.
•    Innovative and self-motivated; good time-management
•    Thought leadership skills
•    A clean current full driving licence
